Ichi was born in Mongolia in 1993, growing up in a nomadic family, riding horses and raising livestock. He was a State Champion in Mongolian wrestling at age 14.
He entered high school in Japan, where he excelled in judo and sumo. Thanks to his amateur yokozuna status, he joined Pro Sumo near the elite level (skipping about 600 lower ranks), and instantly became the highest-ranked wrestler on his team (which he maintained for his whole career)!
After only 4 Pro Sumo tournaments, he reached the top division at an incredible pace, setting another record with his 13-2 showing in his top division debut! Ichi is one of the greatest yokozuna-killers of all time, beating 5 different yokozuna, a total of 9 times!
He is now performing as a Sumo Ambassador to the world, and also appears in many TV shows and films, globally.
